INTRODUCTION

The synthetic Alkylamines which are marketed by U.S. Amines are,
by definition, derivatives of ammonia in which one or more hydrogen atoms
are replaced by alkyl or cycloalkyl radicals.

Depending on the "degree of substitution", primary, secondary or tertiary amines are formed.

U.S. Amines uses four basic technologies to produce amines.

These are:

• Vapor-phase ammonolysis of alcohols.
• Liquid phase ammonolysis of alcohols.
• Liquid phase reductive amination of ketones
  and aldehydes.
• Liquid phase reduction of nitrils to produce
  acrylonitrile derived functional amines,
  diamines and triamines.
• Liquid phase amination of dichloroalkanes
  and allyl chlorides.
